I'm looking for inexpensive accommodation, a week or more at a time in this area of Italy.
Not knowing exactly what you are looking for or what you consider inexpensive, I can tell you that we stayed at Agriturismo Quercia Rossa in july and enjoyed it very much. It is near Manciano and you would need a car to get there as it is somewhat off the beaten path. I posted a review on TA.
I would be happy to give you more info if needed.
Agriturismo Quercia Rosa was suggested for this time period, however, on checking they are booked solid for all of June and as far as I checked -- through the middle of July. 'Looked like a great place. Any more suggestions? Obviously, we're really on the edge if not too late for booking June '12. We've got a four bedroom farmhouse for the second week in June and are looking to find other accommodations totaling a month and a half. or longer.
I have to say I am very surprised that Quercia Rossa is already booked for June 2012. We were there in the first week of July and did not book until April or so. There were several others in the area that we considered. If I can dig up the info, I will send it to you.
Good luck in your search.
The other 2 places we considered were Le Macchie Alte which was very close by and looked nice and La Rocca dei Briganti.
Thank you Linda. I'll check out your suggestions. It's possible that the first agritourismo site was filtered through an online agency that may have had a limited number of units. Could it work something like "air" where there are various ways of securing a booking? I'll try to make a more direct connection in the hopes of getting a more positive response.
