We have been to Italy many times and are looking for some small towns we have not visited. Has anyone been to Pistoia? Opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Rick doesn't cover Pistoia, he can't be everywhere I guess. You could easily spend half a day there plus a sidetrip to Leonardo's home near Vinci (Leonarda da Vinci). The Altar of St. James in the Pistoia Duomo is a Michelin 3-star attraction and the town itself gets 2 Michelin stars so in their opinion based on a hundred years of rating places they recommend it.
Pistoia is not as visited as other towns in Tuscany, but it is charming medieval city inside the old walls.
You can find good information about Pistoia here:

Hope it helps.
