We will be driving from La Spezia to Pisa and would like some help if anyone knows of ZTL's from the Autostada to the parking area outside the walls of the Leaning Tower.
Coming from the Pisa Nord autostrada exit you should not run into any ZTL's since you would avoid the city center by parking at the lot where the tour buses and cars park. I cannot remember the name of the parking lot but we found a free parking place. Even if you have to pay it will not be much and the walk to the tower is a fairly short one. After you exit from the Pisa Nord autostada just keep going toward town and you will see the parking lot on your left before you arrive in the restricted areas.
We drove essentially the same route. When we left the autostrada we followed signs to center and parking. I never saw any ZTL signs and really didn't see any areas that looked like a logical ZTL area. Pisa seems to be built to take people from the Autostrada to the tower and back.
It was early in the morning in late Ocober so we were able to find a decent free parking space without using the parking lot, then walked into the tower area (which is pedestrian only).
