Pisa--Train Tickets

How long should we plan for climbing the Tower? We (2 adults and 2 teenagers) have tickets for 2:00 pm to climb the Tower and need to purchase our train tickets for Rome. Our luggage will be in lockers at Centrale Station. Do you think we can catch a 4:00 pm train to Rome without being too rushed?
Thank you in advance!

It sounds rushed, since there's more to the tower area than just climbing it. Why not a later train? You won't do much in Rome that day, and you can still arrive in Rome at a decent hour if you leave at, say, 5 rather than 4.

If I’m not mistaken there is a left luggage room at Pisa Centrale but no lockers. Depending on how busy they are when you want to claim your bags, it might be a 15-20 minute wait. So, I also think that you should not rush your visit. Take your time and take a later train.

We were just there on 6/15/19. We took the train from Florence to Pisa Centrale with our bags. Checked our bags at the left luggage area (no lockers but a bag check room). It was all the way at the other end of the train station, and 5 Euro per bag, no time limit. Then we had to buy tickets for the bus to Pisa S. Rossore, and catch the bus. Bus ride was longer than I expected, so the 2 Euro/per person was worth it to us. We had tower climb reservations for 2:45p. Got to the tower area and it was pretty crowded. We had to check our bags that we didn't leave at the train station, including purses. Then went to wait in line for our time slot, and get scanned by security which wasn't too bad. We took our time once we got to the top, since it's pretty awesome up there. Our train back to Florence was at 5:30p, which was kind of perfect for us So if you have a 2:00p climb time, maybe a 4:30p train to Rome would be comfortable and not too rushed.

Thank you. I really appreciate this advice. We will be there around 12:30 to explore a bit before our climb. We want to get to Rome, check into our apartment, and go eat dinner. But it seems like a 4:30-5:00 train would make more sense.
