Pisa train station

Are there lockers to store luggage at the Pisa train station for a couple of hours?

No. No lockers at any major train station in Italy. Security issues. However, the great news is that these larger train stations have staffed left luggage operations. Pisa Centrale has such a facility. At least it did 3 years ago when we used it. As you face the station with the tracks at your back, turn right and go down to the last two buildings on your left. The tracks will be on your right. Go between the two buildings and the left luggage facility is just to the right. When we did this, they made a photocopy of my passport picture and placed it with our luggage. The luggage is behind the counter. You need to show your passport to get your luggage back. We paid 3Euro per bag a couple of years ago. It may be more now.

Larry's correct - there is a Left Luggage counter at Pisa Centrale BUT NOT AT the other Pisa train station... so make sure you head for the correct station. Then you can ride the local bus 8-10 minutes over to the Field of Miracles! Here's a link with all the Left Locker facilities at the major airports and all train stations in Italy.

Just be aware that if the train station personnel go on strike (which they do without warning), the bag check is closed, which is what happened to us a couple of weeks ago. We had planned a 2.5 hours stop over in Pisa on our way to Vernazza and had to drag our bags with us out to the Field of Miracles.
