Hi, I read in the PISA tower, children under age of 8 are not allowed on the tour.. Am I reading it wrong? Thanks
The website for tickets is pretty clear: "For security reasons, children under 8 are not allowed on the tower."
The Tower is surprisingly slanted, so much so that it would be dangerous for small children.
I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It came as a complete surprise to me that a tower tilting 4 degrees off vertical would have a roof surface that tilts 4 degrees off horizontal. Well, it does. As you exit the stairway onto the roof you walk up hill and the tilt is no problem. As you walk around the perimeter toward the exit, downhill, the tilt is very noticeable. The railing is something that a small child could fall through; and, an adult who trips walking downhill could syumble over the rail. There was a guard up there, seated near the exit, back turned toward everyone. In the US, the roof would be off limits unless the railing were upgraded.
