We get into Florence around noon. The Pisa Tour we want starts at 2:30pm. Would we have enough time to get from the airport to the train station, to Pisa in time for our tour? *We are not checking any luggage from our flight, but we will have luggage with us on the train to Pisa.
Where does the flight into Florence originate?
I assume you don't have the option at this point to fly into Pisa, instead.
Even though the Florence airport is small, getting off the airplane itself takes time. The new tram line, T2, is now operating between Amerigo Vespucci Airport and near Florence's SMN train station (runs every five minutes, 20 min, runs 5:00–24:00).
Trains to Pisa Centrale take between 52 and 80 minutes, depending on the particular departure, such as depart at 13:00 to arrive around 13:52, or depart at 13:28 to arrive at 14:28; see www.trenitalia.com. I would not expect you to make the earlier train, which is the last one that could theoretically get you to Pisa in time for a 14:30 tour.
Then you need time to stow your bags at the train station storage office, which could have a line. Local buses run to the Piazza (15 min) but you might prefer a taxi for 10 euros.
Flight is from another schengen country. Sounds like instead of doing a tour we should just take the train out there for some pictures/walking around time and we will eat dinner there before returning to Florence. Our flights are already booked, so to change those would be a pain.
Thanks for the advice!!
