Pisa Rental location - near train station or Airport?

Hello all! Our family is taking our Italy trip this March, and as I've been laying out the details and itinerary, I've been researching this forum fairly consistently. I've happened across one item that most of the topics are pretty old, so thought I would see if there is updated guidance. We will be traveling via train from Rome to Pisa, whereupon we will need to rent a vehicle (we stay in the Tuscany region, about 30 minutes into the countryside from Pisa for about 6 days, and want to explore). It appears there are some rental options kinda near the train station...but I was unsure of the ease of leaving that area and some of the driving restrictions. We are wondering if it makes more sense to just hop on the Pisa Mover over to the airport from the train station, and pick up a rental there? After our six days are up, we would then drop off at the same location, and hop another train, bound for Venice. Thanks for your suggestions!

Take the PisaMover to the airport. Only Europcar has a location in town, but it's in the historical center on the Lungarno (along the Arno river). It's not too difficult to get out of town from there, but from the airport is really easy to get on the freeway, which runs right on front of it, and the Europcar location downtown isn't any closer to the station than the airport and to the airport you have the people mover. It's a long walk from the station to the Arno river..

We did not rent at Pisa, but we returned our car there, at the airport, then took the People Mover to the station to catch our train. Easy-peasy.
