Pisa parking

We will be driving to Pisa from Castellina in Chianti in mid October. Rick's 2021 guide book indicates that there is free parking in the Pietrasanta parking lot. Does anyone have any recent experience that would verify this? or can you recommend another free parking spot?

We would like to visit the Tower as well as the historic centre so are fine with parking either near the Tower or near the Pisa Centrale train station.

I am doubtful that any free parking still exists and appreciate feedback from recent visitors.

I’ve always parked here to take people to see the Piazza dei Miracoli.
It’s not free, but inexpensive (about €2.50 per hour) and only 2 minutes’ walk to the Piazza, which is across the street from the parking.

The one you are referring to is actually called Via Pietrasantina parking. It’s about half mile north of the one I posted, on the same street. I’ve never parked there, but it’s still free.
