We are driving from Florence to Pisa and would like to have some recommendation on where to park.
We will have one off the small (for US standards) Opel vans as there are 7 of us.
Depends when you are there and how busy it is. We were there on a weekday last November and there were pay lots just a couple of blocks away that were not full and we went in easily. If it is a busier time, then you need to park at lots on the outskirts and bus in.
Be aware of ZTL zones in Pisa (do some searches) Likely the plan will be to find a lot well outside city center, then use public transport. Do not imagine that you can drive the van around the city as a driving tour or to get from place to place. Doing so will in the end will cost you several hundred euro.
Also investigate ZTLs in Florence, if you haven't already. It's really easy to get from Florence to Pisa (and many, many other places) by train.
Park here.
Directions from Florence
Take the SGC (Strada Grande Comunicazione) FI-PI-LI option (no tolls, so you save money)
This pay parking lot is less than two minutes walk from the Duomo and the leaning tower.
Thank's for the information
If you just go for the day, it's probably faster (and less hassle) by train.
If you are on your way to somewhere else by car, then it's another matter.
Thanks, we are traveling with 4 adults, Parents, Grandparents and children 4 - 12 ( I know the age restriction on the tower) and would rather not use public transit.
