Has anyone purchased the online tickets at the opapisa site? I am trying to figure out if I have enough time to squeeze in a quick tower climb. I will be on a train from the Cinque Terre that arrives at 9am. My train to Rome would leave at 11:30am, leaving me 2 1/2 hours. Based on the time goals in the RS guidebook, I am giving myself 45 minutes to check my bags at the train station and take the bus to the tower. Then giving myself 30 minutes for the climb itself and 45 minutes to get back to the train station, get the bags and back on the train. That gives me 30 minutes wiggle room or stand in line at the tower. Will this work? Am I missing anything? What about the tickets...can I print them at home or pick them up? The guidebook says something about picking them up 30 minutes early, which might blow up my tight timeframe. Can I do this schedule or should I skip the tower climb and just go to site and not do the climb and be on a less stressful time crunch?

Yes, you have to check in 30 minutes before, and you have to check your bags in another location because you can't take ANYTHING in the tower with you (not even a purse), then pick them up at the end. If you don't have time for the tower climb, the are plenty of interesting places to see there. Some museums, the duomo and baptistery, etc. I actually got a kick out of finding Fibbonachi's grave. He was a very important mathematician from Pisa. The trains thru that area are regionale, I believe. You won't need a reservation, so your time ought to be more flexible.
