Pisa luggage storage

We are traveling by train from Toulouse to Nice and are stopping in Pisa. What do you do with your luggage? Are there lockers large enough at the train station, and what is the cost?
Is there a secure storage area for your luggage?

This answer was given previously by Larry in Elk Grove - "With your back to the station and your front to Track #1, turn left and go down almost to the end of the buildings. Turn left between the last two buildings and walk towards the building in the rear right. You will see a sign that says baggage storage in Italian (which I forget). The staff there will store your baggage behind the counter AND will ask for your passport to photocopy your picture. A piece of paper with your picture will be placed with your luggage. Then, when you return, you have to show your passport to get your luggage back. 3Euros per bag. Works great." This answer was provided a few years ago so the price per bag may have changed.

I did it in 2008 with no problems (from Florence to Riomaggiore). It's just annoying that the luggage storage room is at the opposite end of the station from everything else (bathrooms, trains, exits). Also, make sure you allow enough time to collect your bags before your next train. There is usually one attendant and you may be unlucky and have to wait 15 minutes or so if he's just taken a break. If you are going to see the Leaning Tower, it's easiest to take a taxi from the train station. Coming back, there's a bus stop across the street from the entrance, but finding the bus at the station is more of a challenge. It's a short ride.

Just did this, as described, in June and it worked like a charm for us. You just have to allot extra time to drop off your luggage and time to retrieve it. But we did this, then took the bus. If my notes are correct, it is still 3 euros per bag.
