When we went to Pisa in 2003, we parked right across from the Field of Miracles. I am now reading that Pisa's limited traffic zone (one of those zones that takes your picture and can mail you a ticket a year later) is one of the most poorly marked zones in Italy. (and I'm scared I'll drive through it) Does anyone know if the parking right by Field of Miracles is in that zone? Is it close? I have heard from several people who "accidently" drove through Florence's zone trying to reach the train station. Apparently you have to know the one road that it is ok to drive on. Any info on Pisa's zone would be appreciated. I did find one web site that listed the streets, but it was so convoluted I couldn't make sense of it. My sister and brother-in-law would like to see the Tower of Pisa, but I'm just not sure. By the way, I leave tomorrow at 5:30 am, so any immediate help would be appreciated.
I don't know about the parking lot you're mentioning. We parked at the large Parcheggio Pietrasantina. All the tour busses are parked there as well. The lot is well signed and not difficult to find. You do have a 15 minute walk from there to the Field of Miracles but that also means you're well outside the limited traffic zone.
