Has anyone flown into Pisa? Is it easy to get from the airpot into Pisa? How far outside the city is the airport? Am considering using Pisa as an alternative to Rome's airport.
Pisa is a bit of a ridiculous airport. Pisa's airport is about a ten minute drive outside the city. However, it is a bit over-run and has way too many flights for the size of its facilities. Allow for a bit of extra time.
It is easier than Rome, however.
The airport is only a mile or two from the main train station. There are frequent inexpensive trains that make the trip in just a few minutes.
You can also use the Amerigo Vespucci airport at Florence. It's smaller than Pisa's and may be more difficult to book. We did it from Northern Calif. and it worked just fine. We came in on Lufthansa via Frankfurt.
