We greatly enjoyed the Piaggio museum just outside of Pisa --- we actually went there because we are fond of the Ape and we saw lots of those, designed for a variety of jobs and decorated in many ways. But the rest of the museum, being an Italian museum, was full of creative exhibits that would be interesting to anyone of any age. I have looked online half a dozen times for photos that show what can be seen in this museum, but unfortunately it seems that (predictably!) most of the visitors to this museum are Vespa enthusiasts and their photos are of row after row of scooters, ignoring the historical and imaginative parts of the museum that we liked best, such as a Vespa made out of wood, an Ape fire engine, a scooter turned into a helicopter, and an Ape painted like a traditional Sicilian cart. Oh, and a Vespa cow with udders.
If you like this sort of odd thing (we do), there is the Devil's Bridge (Ponte del Diavolo o della Maddalena) a few miles north of Lucca. You can walk over it, but don't make any deals with any devils.
