I arrive in Pisa at 10 pm, but really don't want to stay there, so think I will bus to Siena: can anyone recommend a hotel or b & b that is not pricey but would allow me to check in at 1 pm? Many thanks.

When are you going Leslie? I stayed at a place called Siena Quiet Villa. Its a private house that rents out 3 rooms I believe, run by an American woman married to a Sienese man. Just outside of the old part of town, but only a 10 minute walk. I was there in Sept and paid 50 euro for a single. It was very nice, but not a hotel if thats what you're looking for.

Home a week from a two week trip. Stayed in Siena three nights just outside of the old town...
Hotel Arcobaleno, via Fiorentina 32/40 53100 Siena –Italia-
Very nice and lovely staff. 80 E for a double and breakfast. We had a car and there was parking.
