Okay - I just cannot stop laughing at this "plan." The mayor certainly has created interest. Newly elected by a strong majority he has already implemented some unique ideas.

First there was the FREE PARKING fiasco. Now cars are "parked" for months in valuable parking spaces, their owners having no intention of ever moving them. The parking problem got worse and of course revenues fell badly. Now there are trying to figure out how to re-implement paid parking. This will be fun to watch!

Then his office announced there would probably be no Notte Bianca celebration this year... as you guessed it... there's no money to pay for it!!! For those of us here, Notte Bianca is an incredible weekend celebration each September - Not this year!

Rumor has it he is trying to change the Rome film festival - to make it more Italian or just drop it altogether? (He did run on an anti-immigration ticket)...

And now, there are 2,000+ military troops "installed" in the city to support the police so those police could focus on reducing the crime in Rome... After all, this mayor ran on a "law & order" platform.

(NOTE: The troops are primarily stationed outside the embassies around town except for the US Embassy. It is guarded by a "contracted Italian security company"... These "security guards," the first line of defense and entry into the US Embassy, DO NOT speak English!)

And now Disneyworld, Roman-style??? There's no money and little land for this proposal. I'm starting to miss the good old days ... I have to go get a beer!!!

Don't forget the "snack ban"! I'm sure the gelaterias really appreciated that one...
