Piombino train station/trains

We will be arriving in Piombino from Corsica by ferry and plan to take the train to Rome in July. How far
is the train station from the ferry? Is it in walking distance or must you take a bus or taxi? I need to
know as there is an earlier train we would like to take. Also which is the fastest route, to go to Pisa, or Cecina or Campiglia? There seems to be limited trains leaving Piombino but we want to catch a high speed train from the closest city nearby.

On Google Maps, you can see both the central Piombino train station and one right at the port marked Piomb. Bin. Mare. If you search on DB train schedules or www.trenitalia.com from Piombino Marittima to Rome, it will show the recommended connection points for particular departure times, most often at Campiglia, but it varies. Regardless of which station I choose, Piominbo has a noticeably low frequency of train departures; hopefully, they will be timed to meet the ferries.

That is good news that there is a train station at the port. We will have about a half hour after our scheduled arrival time
to catch the morning departure train. I am thinking we could make this. Otherwise, we would have to
wait for a late afternoon train. Thanks so much for this information.
