I will be traveling solo in Oct. I have booked 4 nights in Manarola, 2 in Santa Margherita. Would like to go to the truffle festival in Alba. I will not have an auto so I am concerned about where to stay in the area, any ideas?

Margaret, we stayed at the Hotel Savona which is fairly close to the train station (looking at a map) but there are many hotels in Alba in which to stay. The Hotel Savona was OK, small rooms but clean. We had a car and they had parking available. I do hope you will try to be in Alba for the Medieval Costume Parade and Donkey Races on October 7. (It is always on the first Sunday in October.) There are hotels close to the venue for this which is near Piazza Duomo. The Truffle Market is wonderful: you can buy truffles, but there are many, many stalls at which to sample cheeses, chocolate, wine, etc. The town is jammed with people on this day but I highly recommend it. Have fun. Wish I was going! (Have been to it twice!)

Thank you for your reply. The Savona is booked but I am looking at an Agriturismo in the hills outside of Alba. Just concerned about transportation. Thank You for your advice
