Piedmont vs Tuscany in September - Any Opins?

I had been planning on staying 3 nights in Siena and then unto Venice my last stop before flying home.

Coming from the south of France and spending 2 nights in Monterosso Cinque Terra I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off in Piedmont instead of Tuscany?

To me Tuscany is a better area to visit for the sights. However Piedimonte is along your route. I have stayed in both and much prefer Tuscany if you have xtra time Umbria is also nice on your way to Venice Ie Assisi.
