Piedmont. September driving trip. Agritourismo? 5 to 7 days?

Looking at spending a week in the Piedmont area. Have never been south of Stressa. Interested in staying possibly in Alva? Would love to find a well recommended bed-and-breakfast or agritourismo accommodation. Not so interested in the wineries although I’m sure we would see one. More interested in the sites. Local foods. Truffles. Exploring the area. Do you have any recommendations primarily for accommodations at this point. What is your opinion of driving? We’re not planning to drive in the larger cities. I would appreciate any input and surprisingly Rick does not cover Piedmont in his Italy book. What’s up Rick?

Rick Steves guide books are not comprehensive and tend to cover where his tours go,
You refer to Alva but perhaps you mean Alva which makes a great base for the Piemonte. Take a look at Villa Favorita just outside of Alba, wonderful views and breakfasts.
It is easy to drive to the various (wine) villages surrounding Alba, explore, have lunch. There are many to visit in that area.
I assume there are probably some agriturismos nearby but did not look for any so can’t help with finding them.
