Where would you suggest to stay for 3 nights in the Piedmont region. We will be arriving from the Cinque -terre and going to Venice from Piedmont area.
Mostly interested in the fine food from the region and a nice place to stay. Mark
We have stayed in an apartment at the winery Cantina Rizzi twice now. It is just outside of Treiso and near Alba. We really like it and the price can't be beat. Last summer we paid 35 Euro per person for the three bedroom, two bath apartment.
Hi Mark, You"ll want to stay in the Langhe region (think Barolo, Alba, Bra.) Excellent food, wine, spectacular rolling hills covered with vineyards. I recommend staying in a B & B. Check out Bricco dei Cogni in Rivalta. Looks just like on the website. It's a little tricky to find but worth it. (I have also stayed at the Hotel Savona right in the town of Alba but it's just a hotel--small room, nothing special.) Good restaurants: Le Torri in Castiglione Falletto and Trattoria dei Bercau in Verduno. When are you going?
Thank you for the replys. We are going in mid Oct. Hope not to have to hire a car, trains and local busses if necessary. Mark
Mark, I do recommend renting a car. It will be difficult to get around to the small towns without one, although admittedly I don't know anything about the bus system. I assume you are you going for the Truffle Festival which will be going on while you are there. You should at least get to Alba and go to the Truffle Market and sample lots of delicious tidbits and taste the wines. The medieval Costume Parade is not to be missed. I am jealous. I love Piemonte and can't wait to go back.
