Piedmont or Cinque Terre?

My husband and I are doing a week in Italy starting June 28th. We're flying in and out of Milan and will be spending the last 3 days in Lake Como. Should we spend the first three in Cinque Terre or Piedmont? Both very different, I know, but both very appealing in their own way.

Do you prefer mountains, wine, and cheese or seaside, wine, and pesto? Clearly, the Cinque Terre is one of Rick's favorite and most recommended places, especially for travelers who are new to Italy, and his book doesn't cover Piedmont at all. But CT is far from undiscovered now and can be quite crowded. CT is easy to reach by train, but a car could give you a lot more flexibility in Piedmont, if someone is willing to drive.

3 couples are going to Italy end of April and beginning of May 2015. We want to find accomodations in Chianti region outside of Florence for 5 to 7 days, accomodations in Cinque Terre/Santa Margarita for 5 to 7 days, and a hotel for 2 to 3 nights in Venice.

We are looking for 3 one bedroom 1 bath apartments in the same complex both in Chianti region and Cinque Terre with a pool; or a villa that accomodates 6 people with a pool, 3 bedroom, 2 to 3 baths. Perfer apartments. And, Hotel recommendation in Venice. We are looking at 5 to 7 days outside of Florence and 5 to 7 days in Cinque Terre/Santa Margarita. 2 to 3 days in Venice.

You justneedto decide what kind of experience you want to have. No one else cananswerthat for you! This isn't the difference between two beach resorts, but rather between two totally different areas.
