Piedmont, Italy

Hello

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Piedmont, Italy this coming October and are looking for some place small and very quiet with some great wine tasting options. Any advice is would be great. We are also considering the lakes district but would like to take the path less traveled...if it exists? Any friendly advice regarding that would be nice as well?

There's a truffle festival in Alba in October. Asti is the place for spumante wine. Check the Go Italy website for lots to do/see.

Barolo is a great town for wine tasting. Wonderful places to eat as well.

Alba is a lovely town, but any of the nearby towns like Bra or Barolo, to name a couple, will fit your desires, as well. Barolo Castle has a regional enoteca offering tastings and sales of the local wine. The area is the mother-house of the Slow Food movement. I can't remember where we stayed in Alba, but friends of ours just loved La Traversina Agriturismo, which isn't very far from the aforementioned towns.
