Picking up our Padova Cards

I ordered our Padua Cards online, reserving a visit to the Scrovegni Chapel as well. I was assuming I could pick up the Padua Cards at the TI near the train station when we arrive in Padua. But the notice on the receipt seems to say (my Italian is rusty) that we can pick up the cards an hour before our Scrovegni reservation, at the Scrovegni Chapel itself.

We're arriving in Padua on a Friday, and our Scrovegni reservations are for Sunday evening! And our Village Italy tour starts the following day, so the Padua card will be pretty much superfluous at that point.

Can I use my receipt, which has the ticket codes on it, to get my Padova Card when we arrive in Padua? Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks.

I haven't done this myself, but I would think that one hour before your reservation is the latest you can pick up the card, not the earliest.

If you cut and paste the Italian notice on the receipt, several people here will be able to translate it for you.

Zoe, I tried that, but the pdf reader I was using wouldn't let me. And I had to leave for the morning. So I've since typed the notice; here it is:

Ritiro presso la biglietteria a partire da un'ora prima dello spettacolo presentando la ricevuta del pagamento ed un documento di identitá o delega da parte dell'effettivo intestatario della prenotazione.

The best thing would be for us to be able to get the cards at the TI, since they cover public transportation. The second best would be to pick them up at the Scrovegni Chapel the same day we arrive. Or print them off the internet?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Ciaran's link certainly seems to indicate that you can get your Padova card at the tourist office. That's where I bought mine (in person) in 2015. I think they will be able to help you. The staff person I dealt with was fluent in English and very helpful.

Thanks, all. I just checked Ciaran's link, and you're right, acraven; I should be able to get them at the TI. I'll try there as soon as we leave the train station.

I was just nosing through my email, and saw on the order acknowledgement (not the receipt), a link to a "help and assistance" page. One of the categories you can choose for help is "When and where can I pick up my order." So I sent along my query. I'll report back here if I find something out. The site said it might be a few days...

Here's the link, if anyone else wants it:

I'm hoping you can get your ticket when you arrive rather than at the end of your stay there!

You and me both, Kim! I think it'll work out, though.

I just got the answer to my email:

Dear client,
you will pick up your cards directly at the Scrovegni ticket office.
Best regards

I'm still going to try the TI first, just because it'll be more convenient. And save us the price of the tram tickets to our hotel!

I also ordered Padova Cards for my wife and myself for our stay in Padova in advance of our Village Tour in May, and I made reservations for the Scrovegni Chapel, as you did, Jane. On page 121 of Rick's Italy 2017 guidebook, it says that one can pick up the the prepurchased cards from either the TI or the chapel, and that makes a lot of sense. Once we arrive on the bus from Marco Polo airport, we will pick up our Padova Cards at the TI office at the train station and take the tram to our albergo. Our visit to the chapel will be two days later.

Steve, that's what I'm hoping. Let me know what happens, please. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a worrier - although I know that at worst we'll just have to go to the Scrovegni to pick up the cards. Still, I'd rather get them as we're arriving in Padua; it'll be simpler, more convenient, and more economical.

And enjoy the trip. All my friends say the VI trip is the best. We're counting the days - 66 until we head for the airport!
