Piccolo Hotel Puccini in Lucca

Hello everyone

Just heard from Paolo, the owner of Piccolo Hotel Puccini in Lucca. Earlier in the month, he had severe joint pains, had trouble eating and a high fever and has since recovered, he never mentioned any type of breathing problems. He said Lucca is like a ghost town and seemed so upset, which is so unlike him.

If you have stayed there, you know Paolo and his upbeat personality and helpful demeanor. You can send him an email at info@hotelpuccini.com, I’m sure he would appreciate it. I tell him all the time how he has helped our family in several circumstances and I’m sure he has reached out to others.

Soon we will all be able to travel to Italy again and Lucca is a great place to stay. The train is directly outside the walls and gives you access to Florence and Pisa, and from there you can go just about anywhere.

If you stay in Lucca, I highly recommend this small hotel, it is right here the magnificent San Michele church, clean, quiet and extremely reasonable. Paolo, Franco and the other staff will help with any questions, problems, etc. The Ristorante Casa Puccini is right around the corner and outstanding and also very reasonable.

Thank you! Stay healthy and stay home for now.

Jane, Lucca is a fabulous place to stay while in the Tuscan area and staying at Piccolo Hotel Puccini is like staying with your favorite cousin. Paolo and Franco go completely overboard in helping their guests. One Italian visit we stayed in Cortona/Verona area the entire time, our car broke down and I called Paolo to help us, as no one spoke English. He not only called the rental car agency, he got his cousin to come down and help us where we were stuck. Another time, my husband injured his leg pretty bad and again Paolo helped us tremendously. His rates are remarkable for the location, the rooms are good and his breakfast is delightful.

Is there a/c or just the ceiling fans?

Looks like a great place to stay in Lucca, with reasonable rates.

Joe, I am sure there are ceiling fans, but since we were always there in early May or late October, we never used the A/C. You could always email to ask and yes, the rates are very good for being so close to the one of the main squares.
