Piazalle Michelangeo - Florence

On my last trip to Florence, I took the #13 bus from the train station up to Piazalle Michelangelo as suggested in RS guide. I found the bus ride to be very long and time consuming. I noticed that the #13 stopped along the Arno. After looking at the bus map of Florence recently, preparing for my next visit; I again noticed a bus stop between Santa Croce and the Arno. Wouldn't it make more sense to board the bus there instead of going all the way back to the train station? Is there something I'm missing or not getting? I would appreciate anyone's input or thoughts. Thanks!

Yes, of course you should catch the bus at the stop nearest you. We stayed near Pt. Trinita and walked across the Arno to take the bus on that side. It was in 2009 so I don't remember exactly where we caught the bus, but you get the idea.

Routes have changed dramatically since 2011, when the Duomo area was closed totally to city bus traffic.
No. 13 does not stop where it used to. If you are near Santa Croce, you need to go to Viale Giovine Italia, under the headquarters of Florence newspaper, La Nazione, to catch no. 13.
