photography tours or walking tours in Florence and Venice

I have seen many on various web sites and was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions. I would prefer private if possible.

bluedenim,

Could you elaborate on "private". Also, are you referring to a day tour or one that might last a week or so?

Hey Ken good point
I mean with a private guide as opposed to a group thing and something that would be like a maxium day tour.
thanks

bluedenim,

I have seen advert's for Guides that will offer day tours, but I'd have to do some "digging" to find them again.

If you have more time on a future trip, you might consider These Photo Workshops. I've been looking at them for a while and just waiting to get some time away from work to take one of them (the Tuscany one looks fantastic!).

If I find something, I'll post another note.

Cheers!

Can't comment on florence, but Venice is very doable on your own with some research. There are a few sources for walks with annotated highlights in several guidebooks, Rick's included.

There are also podcasts available for download that have directions and commentary for walks.

I'd suggest getting up early one day and going to see the rialto fish and vegetable market being set up. Lots of opportunities for photos.

If you get there around 6:30 or 7:00, the vegetables will be mostly set up and the fish market about halfway done.

For more photo ops either get up early or stay out late, Venice is a very different place then.

Another spot for spectacular views of Venice is the campanile of San Giorgio Maggiore on Guidecca. It is directly across from the mouth of the Grand Canal. Costs about 3 euros to go up in the tower by elevator.
