In Rick’s 2022 Kindle book on Rome, page 61, he says Scams: Beware of corrupt taxis. First, only use official Rome taxis. They’re white, with a taxi sign on the roof and a maroon logo on the door that reads Roma Capitale.
However, the photo that goes with that statement shows himself in a yellow taxi that does not display any logo. What does it mean? Is it a picture of a corrupt taxi? A joke?
Probably just a stock photo of him in a generic taxi.
@mewjsw - Welcome to the forums. Ignore the rude reply. I'm sure they just stuck a stock photo in without thinking about it. But good catch!
It might be that most of us in the US associate an image of a yellow car as a taxi so it gets our attention rather than a white car.
Rick meant Rome, New York!
I agree.
Many people traveling for the first time have never used a taxi in their lives...or a bus or a train.
We are usually helpful people on this forum, so your question, OP, was a valid one.
When you are abroad, it is good to find out ahead of time which taxis are the official legitimate ones.
Not having a Kindle or the book you refer to, I can only speculate that the photo is just visual cue that the topic is 'taxis', and has no other 'meaning'.
