Phoning the US from Italy

I will need to spend some time talking to British Airways after US phone number when I am in Italy. Any suggestions as to the most cost-effective way to do this?

Just buy a phone card at any tobacco shop.

Thanks, Frank. I was thinking that maybe an international phone card purchased in Italy might be the best solution. It sure wouldn't be cheap to call using my cell phone with or without an Italian sim card. So, thanks again.

You can also buy an ATT calling card at your local Wal-Mart or Target and then go to the website for ATT prepaid cards - get the dialing instructions for which ever country you are in.............then you can just got to any public phone and call anywhere you want. The cards never expire and you can always add more minutes if you need to. I always carry a prepaid card with me when I travel in case I need to call the US or another country..........very convenient.

Thanks, Francis. I do have a Verizon card. I'll check with them to see about the costs calling from Italy.

Kay,
I have a blackberry bold and I bought a sim card from Telestial.com. The card was $5 and then I bought $50 of minutes. You get a global UK number and another US number so folks in the states can call/text you as a free call. It might be a thought. They ship quick, good customer support and since I'm with US Cellular I now have 2g/3g number. Just another option. Wendy
