Trying to buy tickets but Trenitalia won't accept any format I've tried for entering my phone number. Used RS directions of 00-1, used the +1, used just my US phone number, but am rejected no matter whatever combo I try. So went to Captain Train but found no way to choose seats so am going back to Trenitalia. Can you tell me how I should input my US phone, which is of course in this format: area code plus 7 digit number - 000-000-0000. Help!

Use the phone number of a hotel in Italy, even Trenitalia's phone number will do. They will not contact you by phone, they will email you.

Booked with them the other day. I'm pretty sure I just did area code and number like normal. I did find their site very slow and it took several tries for it to take my credit card.
