Phone charger for rental car

Will be renting a car and driving quite a bit. I would like to be able to charge my cell phone while driving. What type of plug in do Italian cars require? One like US cars where ir plugs into a cigarette lighter? A USB plug? Thanks in advance.

Every rental car I've had over the last couple of years has come equipped with usb slots for charging phones. Cigarette lighter points are gradually being phased out or are now 'hidden' in places such as the central armrest/console between the front seats.

When you state "Italian cars" do you mean cars manufactured in Italy or cars that will be available to rent in Italy? If the former, they're no different to any other manufacturer. If the latter they're no different to any other car available to rent in Europe (or elsewhere).

Go to a Dollar Tree in the US and buy a USB cigarette lighter charger. Try it in your own car at home before you leave. My Dollar Tree has some with two USB ports now - $1 each. The cigarette lighter power plug is the same on cars in Europe as it is in the US.
