Pharmacy on Sundays

Our return flight from Rome - US leaves on Monday morning, so we will need to get our Covid tests on Sunday.
Are pharmacies open on Sundays typically? We are staying near the Vatican.

There will always be a pharmacy open on Sunday somewhere
Use Google maps to locate your lodgings then search nearby for pharmacies
Check their hours, email them to see if you’ll need an appointment

You could also ask your lodgings to recommend one

Or there is the option of using the online proctored self test that has been mentioned here many many times

One pharmacy per district is required to remain open on Sundays. Shifts are usually written on a sign outside and online.

It you can't google translate signs&sites, when in Rome Enter a pharmacy and ask who's going to be open on that Sunday. Make clear you need a Covid test to fly home. And use the dd/mm date format!

Pharmacies have weekly shifts so that one per district will be open on Sunday; but you should not assume all pharmacies will take covid tests - my guess is that in Florence only half of them do - so be careful to arrange the thing in advance, do not leave it to the last minute. Some private medical practices work on Sunday tests, but again arrange the thing in advance.

I’m just back from Rome. Farmacie were open all over the place. Not all seemed to be providing test, but many do. There is one in the piazza in front of S Maria in Trastevere that is definitely open on Sunday. I got my test there, and it was quick and easy. And it got me back to the States. Their Sunday hours are different from the rest of the week, but they are open. (I don’t remember the specific hours they are open.)

Thank you!
I tried google maps for hours, but most did not have hours listed.

Dario - thank you for the tip. Our AirBnB host was able to tell us which will be open on Sunday. We will stop by to confirm they do Covid tests.

Hi, I just got back from Rome on Monday. My hotel near Piazza Navona found a pharmacy open on Sunday for the rapid test for USA at 246 Via del Corso, near Piazza Venizia. They open at 10:15 AM until 5 PM. Euro 22.00 and results in 25 minutes.

Can we do the Covid test at Fiumicino the afternoon before we fly home? We will be staying at the airport Hilton and then flying home at 10:30 am. Just triple checking! Thanks.

Just returned home last night (3/31). I did the tampone/antigen in a pharmacy on Via Nazionale (Farmacia Piram) at 1400 on 3/30, but the result didn't come through (until 20+ hours later!!!) Could be a glitch, could be because I didn't tell them I was flying out at 1100 on 3/31. Who knows?!
So I decided to do the test in FCO. I arrived at 0700 for my 1100 flight - I was the 4th in queue. Forty minutes later I was walking out with result on hands, while the queue had grown into 50+ people. So if you've time to spare before your flight, the airport test centre is the better and safer choice. However if any of these farmacias are closer to you, give it a go.
Farmacia Piram - 0830-2230 - via Nazionale, 228, 00184 (Make sure you tell them when your flight is) - Open everyday
Farmacia Santa Maria in Trastevere - 0830-2030 - Piazza di Santa Maria in Trastevere 7, 00153
Farmacia Savignoni - Covid test hours = M-F 0900-1300 - Via dei Serpenti 125, 00184

FCO Covid Test - Terminal 3 Arrival
20 Euro for antigen/tamponi test - the service will be guaranteed for rapid antigen test from 0001-2000
69.88 Euro for PCS - 0800-1600
Please register as early as you could - it helps out the staff there. [http://www.adr.it/form-preaccettazione]

In addition, you could use this list to check which pharmacy is close to you, "on duty", and the type of services they offer.

Happy trails!
