My friends and I are traveling to Italy next week and were disappointed to learn that Ristorante al Castello, where we have fond memories of eating pesto lasagne, will not be open due to the landslides last year. Does anyone have any other recommendations for where to eat some marvelous pesto lasagne in CT? Thank you in advance...
I had fantastic pesto lasagna at Il Pirata several years ago
According to the Save Vernazza site, it's uncertain as to when Il Pirata will re-open. You might check the site again closer to your trip to see what's open. http://savevernazza.com/traveladvisor
We had the most delicious pesto lasagne (I still dream about) at Hotel Pasquale in Monterosso al Mare, but I can't recall if the restaurant is open to everyone or only hotel guests and Rick Steve's tours.
For a bit of history to those reading this post, pesto was invented in Genoa just up the railroad tracks. You have to have pesto of some type while in the CT.
You can eat in the new city of Monterosso, as they were not affected that much. I ate pesto times right on the board walk when I was there 1 year ago. Check out my blog www.bellasabroad.wordpress.com to see the restaurant. YUM!
Also visit www.rebuildmonterosso.com for a list of all open businesses. Most are open in this community.
Thank you so much, everyone!
