What is travel like now for a traveller from the US to Italy? Here's a couple's recent experience.

very useful, thanks Mike. They didn't mention how they are getting food since they can't step outside, but presumably they know people...
We're Canadians, flying direct from Canada to France, then driving to Italy, next month. We hope very much that our trip is as uneventful as theirs.
Yes, I read elsewhere they have neighbors doing shopping for them. Assuming you're coming from France along the coast, the new bridge at Genoa should be open. The announced inauguration date is August 1.
who's going to be the first across? Even if I were on the spot, it wouldn't be me....
For shopping in Italy the most of shops and supermarket activated during the lockdown on-line shopping, so is not a problem do it in Italy. If you are under quarantine you can even ask for the support of the Sanitarian service (ASL) for important purchases. Lucca is a small city, but there are all kinds of services available.
@Nelly
Liguria is suffering a lot of traffic problems at the moment. Not only the collapsed bridge, but even other bridges under test are creating confusion and very long queues.
If your idea is to do the Liguria, check very well the situation before start. Could be better do the Col di Tenda road.
