I will be studying in Italy for one month. Do I need a Questura and/or a Permisso Soggiorno? Appreciate your help.
You can stay in Italy for one month with no problem. In fact, you can stay up to but no longer than 90 days without a permit.
According to this website, no separate Visa is required for study up to 90 days (ie: the Schengen limit).....
"A study visa is not required for U.S. students who study abroad for up to 90 days. International students from countries exempt from applying for a visitor visa do not need a study visa to participate in short-term study abroad programs up to 90 days."

I'm considering doing the same thing, but haven't yet decided when.
