Pensione Accademia

Has anyone ever stayed here? I hear it is lovely and have booked a room with a canal view - but now I've been told that a garden view is "better"
Any input would be appreciated.

I have stayed here twice, once with two friends in 1994 and with my husband a few years ago. Our room for three was huge and very nice. The double was tiny with a little garret-like window out to the canal. So the room choices vary but the canal it is on connects to the Grand Canal after one or two buildings. I liked the view of the building opposite Accademia from our window, also watching all the boats and barges doing deliveries. In nice weather the breakfast outdoors is in a lovely little garden. I enjoyed our stay both times. The location is great for easy walks to most sites and nearby restaurants were good and less touristy than many. Easy walk from vaporetto stop, even with luggage (if it rolls and is not huge). First time we took a water taxi from train station that was very costly, but then we wised up.

Which would YOU prefer, garden view or canal view? It is a nice place, don't stress over other peoples opinions.

Don't stress is exactly right. How long do you plan on staying in your room each day to look out the window??? You probably are going to Venice to see Venice...not the inside of your hotel room. Book a room at a quality hotel and be done with it. Pensione Accademia is a quality place, but it's also very expensive. You can do just as well with less money.
