Is there a need to make reservations for the Peggy Guggenheim museum or the Biennale in Venice to avoid the lines? Thanks
Don
Thanks Kate, That was our experience with the with the Biennale back in 1997. And we are going back in about 3 weeks again to see it. Maybe we will see you there. I ran across a site that was selling reservations for the Guggenheim and that is why I was asking. I really have not heard of any need for them, but figured I should ask the learned people here on the RS Helpline, just in case. That is the other place on our must see places in Venice for this trip. The rest of our time there is for getting lost, eating, drinking and whatever else comes our way. Don
I haven't been to the Peggy Guggenheim museum (yet) but haven't heard that reservations are available or necessary. I went to the Biennale 10 years ago and there were no lines - and actually very few people there at all. It was so wonderful to be in the open seeing a wide variety of art that we're going again in September this year. The fact that this was a Biennale year is the reason we're going to Italy. Enjoy!
I've not seen the Guggenheim particularly crowded and can't see needing reservations. Don't know about the actual site of the Biennale; I've just visited some of the exhibits scattered around Venice and none of them were crowded. (not a particular fan of contemporary or performance art)
Actually, I believe its called the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. We have been there and there were no lines. There were lots of people inside, however. Nice museum store. I have my Kandinsky necktie that I purchased there. It is my favorite in Venice. It's open from 10:00 to 18:00 daily except Tuesday when its closed. Interestingly, you can go to www.tickitaly.com and buy tickets for tomorrow so it can't be that crowded.
