Woo hoo!?

Sounds a bit expensive over what I normally spend, but it is available of you want it.

I’m in Munich and this is the first time in my travels that I’ve seen peanut butter in the hotel breakfast spread—it’s one of my favorite things so I dished some to just eat with a spoon.

I know people who always bring some with them when they travel to Europe. I'm sure they'll be glad to know that some places they go they won't have to lug it along anymore. I'm a peanut butter nut myself and Skippy is my brand, but I have never not been able to get along for a few weeks without it. Now, if I was to live somewhere and not be able to get it, I'd have to arrange to have it shipped to me. :)

I sent peanut butter to my daughter when she did an AFS year in Finland -- she shared it with the other exchange student, who offered her Marmite. Neither was thrilled by the other's "hometown favorite". Acquired tastes, I suppose.

Peanut butter was available in most Esselunga supermarkets in Florence already in the 1980’s. My California girlfriend (later wife) always had plenty in our cupboard. The very first jar I saw was in the early 1980’s at the Rinascente in Milan. It was always pricey though.
BURRO DI ARACHIDI is the Italian translation.

Frank II,

I saw your post yesterday and checked the shelves of a small market near my hotel here in Milan but didn’t find it.

Today, I found the Skippy Peanut butter ( 340gm @ €5,20) at the Esselunga supermarket in the ‘Mall Porta Nuova’, across the street from Porta Garibaldi‘s station.

So... If you’ll be traveling to Milan, you can buy it here and avoid the excess weight in your luggage! Ha!

Full disclosure....I didn't buy any. I can live without it but knew many miss it while traveling.

@Susan—your arteries. Nutella has trans-fats and sugar.
@Caro—turn up your nose, but peanutbutter is nutritionally sound, can substitute for meat. Our pediatrician said it’s preferable to lunch meats and hot dogs healthwise. Perfect for dealing with hungry children. Vive le peanutbutter. It will certainly be a staple in at least one apartment in Kensington Palace.

Root beer at Oslo Central Station.

A&W in a can and another brand I never heard of.

The A&W was 49 Norwegian Kroner per can. (About $6.00)

There is also a store in the station called Handysize that sells travel size items as well as products from Eagle Creek and Sea to Summit.

It is worth going into the stores and getting your peanut butter now - if you are in Europe - because of the steel tariffs put on by your Mr Trump there are now retaliatory tariffs going on hundreds of items from the USA into Europe, including peanut butter and Harley Davidsons among many others...

If I saw Skippy PB for sale while in Europe, I would buy some for sure. It was discontinued in Canada about a year ago, it had been our go-to brand.

Ruh-Roh! Guess my husband will be going through Peanut Butter withdrawal in Venice. His favorite PB is Adam's 100% Natural Crunchy. Can you find Almond Butter?

We have never had a problem finding peanut butter when we travel in France and Italy. One of our first stops when we get into town is to the local supermarket and we grab P-butter, bread and jelly for late night eats. Its kinda fun trying to find it in the store.

This post made me think of my late great-aunt, one of the original world travelers in our family. She always - always - carried a jar of peanut butter with her when she took a trip. In her defense, she probably started traveling before US peanut butter brands were readily available overseas.
