Just finished watching this episode of the Secrets of the Dead series. It looks at the city of Baiae, now largely underwater a bit North of Naples. Those interested in classical Roman history might enjoy it as well. Here's a link to the episode.
Thanks Eric!
Thanks from me too, Eric!
I watched this episode the other night also and found it very interesting. I had not heard of Baiae before and it is fascinating.
For those with kids interested in archeology, this is a great site. Plenty of room for them to explore on land, a great museum and a glass bottom boat to see the site underwater. Boats can be booked from both Baia and Pozzuoli. Short metro ride from Naples.
very interesting , thank you!
Thank you for including this reference, Eric. I had not seen it on PBS, but watched it now and enjoyed it tremendously. I, too, had never heard of Baiae.
Yep, I had never heard of Baiae, either. Thanks to Gerri for providing some details on visiting the site. I've got 8 nights in Campania coming up in October--might have to check it out!
