After having numerous problems with my credit union, I found a better, cheaper, and faster way to pay the fine. I used "transferwise.com" to pay the ticket successfully. I paid less than $5 to complete the transaction and I got a confirmation from the Italian authority that they received the money. Great service, and they have a very good customer support system. After reading about this in The NY Times last year, I downloaded it from the App Store. It’s quick, easy and CHEAP!!! I’ve had to transfer money overseas for various reasons (damn ZTL's) over the years and this is the first way that’s easy and I don’t feel like my bank is hosing me.
Good info to have. Thanks. We used a bank transfer as our bank doesn't charge us to do one but who knows how long that will last.
Thanks for the info!! Waiting for notifications from our May trip -- in case there was a ZTL we didn't see. Good to know there's an inexpensive way to pay, if it's needed.
Transferwise is an excellent service. We used it a lot when we lived in Italy. Very easy, very economical.
Great idea, thanks for posting.
