Unbeknown to me I got not one but two parking tickets in Italy last September. I have gone to two local banks but neither can figure out the codes that came w/ the paperwork to wire the money in spite of contacting their corporate offices. Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm even thinking of tossing the ticket but don't know the consequences. Thanks in advance
Just to be clear...do you mean Sept 2011 or Sept 2010 when you say last Sept? Seems pretty quick if it was '11.
It was 2011----
Hi Bruce; I somehow did not pay all of the highway toll heading south from Florence, Sept 2010, and owed them an additional .6 Euros! It looks like they put it up for collection, and eventually I owed them 6.80 Euros.I received a letter from them with a username and password. Maybe this will be some help, but I wonder how cost effective it is to chase someone a year and a half for 10 bucks! The website they told me to use is: www.nivi.it Hope this will help and good luck! Vic
One parking ticket was in Minori and the other in Ravello.
It may be a parking ticket, but it is more likely to be a ZTL violation. What city is it from, if I may ask? How much? Is it from the city or their operative collectors? And, I guess - a basic question is were you where they said you were and did you do what they say you did? None of these answer your basic question which is how do I get their money to them. This isn't the forst time we have dealt with this issue.
We received a ticket for driving down a wrong street in Florence as we were trying to turn the rental car back in. Took them about 16 months to get the ticket to us for about 125 euros. Our bank had the same problem as yours but their advice was to pay by credit card. That way we could track the payment and if any other withdraws came thru, our bank would stop it. Worked fine.
Am I just a bad human being or what? If I got a ticket in the mail from Italy 16 months after the fact, I would be inclined to ignore it. I mean, if I cause damage that someone has to pay for, I'll pay for it. But there's no harm done here. On two occasions, we have had charges added to our car rental credit card bill after the fact, for what were apparently speed camera violations. We didn't complain even though we had no idea what the precise location of the violation was and whether or not it was justified. But if a ticket arrives in the mail and no harm was done... I think it would go in the junk mail...
