Patti Sicily

My wife and I are looking for a place to stay in Patti Sicily for a few days after our tour. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you have a family connection to Patti? Are you on the RS Best of Sicily tour? I think that's a fairly unusual destination. I've just spent one, in-transit night in Messina, so I can't provide a suggestion for Patti.

Yes we our going to be on the best of Sicily tour. My family name is Patti and believe I have some time to the area but, don't know that for certain.

I didn't stay in Patti but did stay in the nearby very small town of Oliveri.. We stayed here overnight because we wanted to visit Tindari. If you are not aware, right near Patti there is a pretty Sanctuary of the Black Madonna of Tindari. The church is perched on top of cliffs overlooking a beautiful finger peninsula of a beach down below. Very panoramic, gorgeous views, and the story of the Black Madonna that was pulled from the sea is interesting. Also right there, next to the Sanctuary in Tindari, within easy walking distance is an archeological site of Greek ruins and a Greek ampitheater. These ruins are not as impressive as those at Segesta or Selinunte or Agrigento but if you are in Patti and have time, the Tindari church and ruins are worth a visit. We took the train from Oliveri to Cefalù and then into Palermo. You would probably be going the opposite direction, from Palermo towards Messina, getting off in Patti. It was all very easy. We found a BnB in Oliveri and the owner drove us to Tindari and picked us up a few hours later for $10. Sorry I can't give you any firsthand info about Patti and places to stay there but wanted to share the tip about nearby Tindari.

We stayed overnight in the lower town Marina di Patti. We just used Booking.com to find a place, there were plenty there and in Patti proper. There were several very good restaurants specializing in seafood, and it would have been nice to have more time to explore.

We chose it because it was a decent stop between Cefalu and picking up a car in Catania, breaking up a long travel day.

We haven’t been to Patti, but knew it was close to Milazzo. We were going to spend a night in Milazzo in 2020 prior to taking the ferry to Lipari. Canceled due to lockdown. How fun to explore ancestry there. Enjoy!

Hi!
I did stay in Marina di Patti while visiting relatives. We stayed at Hotel Club La Playa and ate one night at Cani, Cani. The restaurant has been there for ages as I have a photo of my grandfather there during the 60s. We rented a car to visit Tindari and the Church of the Black Madonna. It was a story told to me by my grandparents when I was a child and the visit was very meaningful to me. Worth a visit if you have the time.

We saw that name a lot in Sicily, so keep your eyes open for it. I remembered because we had a family connection to a "Patti."
