Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster here.
I am a from India, but I study in in Italy. I recently lost my passport in Rome and have applied for it to be replaced. I have a vacation to the dolomites planned and I know that I have to provide an original passport while checking in.
The other document I have is my Indian Driver's License, even the permesso di soggiorno I have is expired and I have applied for a new one.
I have asked around many places but with no avail.
I know some people here are very knowledgeable.
Please guide me.
Thank you so much,
With friendly regards,
PM
The only authority that can provide you with a replacement passport is the Indian Consular offices. The Indian Embassy is in Rome and a Consulate is in Milan. Both should be able to replace your passport immediately.

Thank you for your reply. I have already applied for a replacement but have not received it yet. I wanted to know what I can do when I haven't received my passport.
Did you go to the embassy in person? I once lost my passport overseas and immediately went to the embassy where I received a temporary passport good for 30 days. You should have gotten something like that.
No one here has any expertise with what the Indian government does with lost passports. You have to talk with your government. Any advice here is guessing and I would not rely on any of it.
