Traveling to Venice in September thru Degaulle in Paris. Last time at Degaulle it took 4.5 hours to go thru the Passport check and 10 min to get thru security. Almost missed our flight. When passing thru Degaulle as the connection to Venice on Delta, will we have to go thru passport check at Degaulle?

Unfortunately, yes. And 4.5 hours? OUCH
Was your previous trip all on same airlines? If not that is likely the reason.
Sounds like this one is all on Delta- all on one ticket?
Where are you flying in from? US? IOW-is this your entry into Schengen?
The airlines are usually pretty good and getting their connecting passengers thru as they are responsible for getting you to your final destination.

We fly Delta or Delta partners 90% of the time and have had connections in CDG airport 3-4 times in the past 5 years.
We never had a problem with our connections. I always have at least 2 hours between flights, sometimes more.
Our last trip was to Copenhagen and our flight from Atlanta to CDG came it at one terminal and we had to walk under the highway to the terminal for our Copenhagen flight.
Frankly, we find CDG better than going through airports in the USA like JFK or O'Hare.
