Hi
Is there a separate pass i can purchase for the Florence transport ystem that is not the Florence Caard that includes the museums? Or can I purchase a multi-ride card ? Thanks
Florence is pretty walkable, so most travelers don't find many occasions to take the buses. If you do, you can buy 4 tickets at a discount (about €4.70), or 24-hour (€5), 3-day (€12) and week-long (€18) passes. Buy these at the ATAF bus office near SMN train station, or most ticket types also sold at tabacchi and newsstands. In Rick's Italy book, see also p. 510, or www.ataf.net.
Agree with Laura. My wife and I were in Florence for 3 days and we had the Florence Pass. We did not use any transport other than our legs even though riding a bus would have been "free".
There are also multi-ride chip cards (carta agile) for 10 and 20 runs, they are not to be stamped like the ordinary paper tickets, but swiped in front of the machines in buses.
The transport system is mainly designed for people moving from the suburbs to the center and vv, but for a few minibus lines inside the center. As most tourist stay inside the former city walls ring, an occasional bus ticket may be needed, but most itineraries are better covered walking.
