Parma vs Arezzo

We're planning a trip for early October this year. We've settled on staying in Verona (4 nts), Ferrara (3 nts), Florence (3 nts) and Bologna (7 nts), not necessarily in that order. We are considering whether to stay 3 nights in either Parma or Arezzo, neither of which we've been to before. We're leaning towards Parma but are concerned it might not add as much variety as Arezzo would. Would a day trip to Parma from Bologna be enough?

Any thoughts?

I found a daytrip to Parma sufficient for me. I was mainly interested in the Duomo and Baptistry, a nice lunch, and walking around. However, there are a number of museums, churches, and food tours that could have kept me busy for several days.
