Parma region - organized food tour or drive on our own

Thank you for any opinions on this. All are appreciated.

We will be traveling to Parma and will be visiting a cheese, prosciutto, and Balsamic Vinegar family production tour at different locations. We have a car but are unsure if we should select and drive to each of those ourselves or do we join one of the foodie tours which pick you up in the morning and visits each of those locations. We are open to whichever option that would make our food experience better.

Thanks again for any input on this!!!

If you are already paying for a rental car why not use it?
I need no expensive guide to stuff my face with food until it comes out of my ears.

Very True, but I want to be sure that I am able to tour the making of the different foods at the different locations and I have yet to find a good guide on which smaller family run places to visit specifically. I have done research but they all look great.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour this past March. We were picked up in Parma then visited a cheese, balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, lunch at a restaurant and then a wine tasting. We were the only ones at each of the small family run places and enjoyed the tours. Our guide was also wonderful and I enjoyed the opportunity to talk with the family members of the places.
