Have 2 nights to fill. For those of you that have been there, where would you stay? One night in Parma and one in Bologna or 2 nights in? and why?
And if you have any recommendation on place to stay and/or eat it would be most appreciated!
Thank you
How about halfway between, in Modena? There's an excellent food tour from the Taste Bologna company, the Enzo Ferrari museum, the Pavarotti Theatre and his home, balsamic vinegar producers, and usual church and other old buildings, small museums, etc. If you go, you should consider da Danilo for dinner.
Is difficult suggest one city or another. Bologna, Modena and Parma are all very nice solutions. Could depends even about what you will do before and after. Bologna in fact is a very important train hub, so reach Parma or Modena is only a short train ride.
In any case probably is better two nights in the same location, unless you want to enjoy a special dinner in some important restaurant.
I thought this was chicken parmesan vs bologna. That's a tough decision. Fried bologna? Yes!
Unless the chicken parm is from Applebees.
A vote for Bologna. Use it as a base to visit Parma and Modena.
To give a bigger picture: We will be coming from Varenna and are going to meet our kids in Florence (then onto to Lucca and eventually Amalfi coast and Roma. My husband and I will have two nights to explore a new location on the way to Florence.
Hadn't thought of Modena, will look into that as well.
