Parking tickets Florence

In 2013 we were sent alleged parking tickets that we supposedly received in Florence in 2012 using a rental car. We contacted Hertz and they were no help. We never paid those tickets and are now returning to Italy. We plan on renting another car. Does anyone know if there will be any travel complications from the Italian government or the rental agency? We even tried to contact the Italian embassy here in the US to no avail. Thoughts?

I would find those tickets and pay them. You never know what could happen, they could flag your license or your passport. They've started sending collection agencies to get unpaid fines and the fees get higher per day.

If you rent from Hertz and they had to pay the ticket for you, maybe they might ask you to refund them. That I don't know.

The Italian authorities will do nothing. They won't even know you forgot to pay and the City of Florence has better things to do than chasing an unpaid parking ticket 4 years ago. The worst that can happen to you, they might ask you to pay if you get involved in an accident in Florence, and somehow they discover there is that pending parking ticket that belongs to you (Fat chance!!). Just to let you know, 60% of traffic fines go unpaid by the Italians.

Just take your trip and enjoy. Just tell Hertz you never received anything.

Rental company never pay. It is your responsibility. Hertz probably hit you with an administrative fee for turning over your info to the local police. My guess it is too old at this point but who knows?
